Vladimir has done an outstanding job creating this aircraft for us simmers to enjoy! It is a very unique looking aircraft that handles quite well, and is able to take off and land in some pretty hairy situations. The detail is excellent! The two paint jobs are done very well, and intricate detail can be found everywhere on the exterior of the aircraft. This is a great one for screen shots!
Here's a real gem of a freeware find! The Antonov AN-2P Colt. Oleg Antonov had been interested in gliding since his early school days. He went on to become a designer of gliders and sailplanes. During WW II, his attentions turned to aircraft. He had also worked as a designer with the Yakovlev organization. After the war, he started his own design bureau to design a new, all purpose aircraft. Thus, the AN-2P colt was born. The aircraft was first flown as a prototype in August of 1947, the aircraft remained in production for over forty years, used and manufactured by countries such as Poland and China. The AN-2P is almost entirely constructed of metal, with the exceptions of the wings, aft of the front spar, and the tail plane, which are fabric covered. The beefed up, wide-track tail wheel type landing gear can be outfitted with low pressure tires, floats or skis. Exceptional operating characteristics are provided by the wings; the upper wing includes electrically-actuated automatic leading-edge slots, trailing edge slotted flaps. The AN-2P Colt
is one of the worlds, largest passenger biplanes, and are still used in some countries for agricultural and passenger transport. The AN-2P can carry 12 passengers or 2,733 pounds (1240 kg) of freight. Variations include a firefighting model, float versions, agricultural spraying, television relay, and an ambulance model, to name but a few.
Although the panel is in Russian, you still should have no problem navigating this aircraft. The flight deck is also nicely detailed, both the 2D view and the VC views.
OK, I know this is another Biplane, but I just couldn't resist! Next freeware find I promise will be something different! I've just been on this biplane kick, what with all these beautiful models that are out there! If you're a biplane fan like me, this is a must have!
